Data deletion
Delete your data
Effective 2026-05-25 · Last updated 2026-08-25
You can delete your The Maternity App account and everything in it at any time, without asking us and without giving a reason. This page explains how, what goes, and what stays.
Removing the app from your phone does not delete your data. Your account and everything in it stays on our servers until you delete the account itself, using one of the two routes below.
01. Delete from inside the app
This is the fastest route, and it is immediate.
- Open The Maternity App and go to your profile.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm when asked.
There is no waiting period and no approval step. Once you confirm, deletion begins straight away and you are signed out.
02. If you can’t sign in
If you have lost access to your account, email team@maternity.app from the address you signed up with, and ask us to delete your account.
We will confirm the request comes from you before we act on it. We may ask you to confirm details we already hold, but we will never ask you to send us identity documents or a photograph to delete your own account.
03. What gets deleted
Deleting your account removes:
- Your profile, email address, and sign-in credentials.
- Every tracker entry, feeds, sleep, diapers, kicks, symptoms, medications, vaccines, and anything else you logged.
- Your children’s profiles and everything recorded about them, including names, dates, and photos.
- Your full conversation history with Sophie.
- Any OB reports generated for you, and any saved content.
- Your caregiver invitations and your access to anyone else’s data.
If you invited co-caregivers to a child’s data, deleting your account removes your access. Entries you created remain visible to a co-caregiver who still has their own account, in the same way a shared photo album doesn’t empty when one person leaves. If you want a child’s record removed entirely, delete the child in the app before deleting your account.
04. What we keep, and why
A small amount of information survives deletion, because the law requires it or because it no longer identifies you:
- Billing and tax records. If you ever paid for a subscription, Everseed Ventures must keep the transaction record for 7 years, as Canadian tax law requires. This is held by our payment processors and the app stores, not as part of your account.
- Aggregate, de-identified analytics. Counts and totals that cannot be traced back to you and cannot be re-linked to your account.
- Security and abuse logs, kept briefly to protect the service, then discarded on their normal schedule.
Your subscription itself is managed by Apple or Google, not by us. Deleting your account does not cancel it, and we cannot cancel it for you. Cancel through the App Store or Google Play first, or you may continue to be charged for an account that no longer exists.
05. How long it takes
Your account becomes inaccessible immediately. Your personal data is removed from our live systems within 30 days. Tracker entries are treated as health-sensitive: they leave primary storage in that same window and age out of encrypted backups within one year as those backups rotate. We do not restore deleted accounts from backup.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot recover a deleted account, and neither can you, so export anything you want to keep, such as the OB report PDF, before you start.
